WHAT IS ISO

ISO is a Non-Governmental International Organization which issues a Certification Mark for the organizations which follows Quality Management System. The ISO was established in 1947 and now is associated with 162 Countries.

ISO 9001 is a family of standards related to quality management system. The standards ie. the provisions or guidelines is drafted and published by the ISO, International Organization for Standardization.

The ISO can be applied to any size of organizations, any industry, any company even for service provider and for Manufacturers.

WHAT IS QUALITY MANUAL

 

          The quality manual is a document, containing the overall objectives and directions of the organization. The superior management is responsible for drafting the quality manual. It includes policies for all areas of the business affecting or affected by the quality system. These policies authorize department managers to implement procedures within the boundaries specified in the quality manual.

The principal uses of the quality manual are:
1.           To correspond management's prospect for quality to the organization.
2.           To exhibit the company's acquiescence of  ISO 9001 requirements.
3.           To serve as a measure for conformity to management's expectations for:
·                     Internal audits
·                     ISO Registrar audits
·                     Customer Audit


ISO CERTIFICATION PROCESS:


1.  QUALITY MANAGEMENT SYSTEM IMPLEMENTATION:

Improve your Quality Management System in accordance with ISO 9001 Quality Standard. In short, the organization should be customer focused so as to become an ISO Certified.  The International Organization for Standardization (ISO), has drafted a 18 clause standerds and the organizations which complies all the above 18 clauses, is eligible for the certification.   

2.  FOLLOW PROPER DOCUMENTATION SYSTEM.

          The quality policy and quality objective to be drafted and signed by the authorized person and must be displayed in the organization. Further all other necessary documents and records must to properly maintained, Controlled and to be preserved in a systematic way in order to achieve customer satisfaction.

3.  QUALITY MANUAL :

A quality manual is a document stating the company management's intentions for operating the quality system. It includes policies for all areas of the business affecting or affected by the quality system. These policies authorize department managers to implement procedures within the boundaries specified in the quality manual. They also serve to provide a measure for procedures, processes and results.

4.  INTERNAL AUDIT:

          Internal Audit is an independent, objective assurance and consulting activity designed to improve an organisation’s operation. It helps an organization accomplish its objectives by bringing a systematic, disciplined approach to evaluate and improve the effectiveness of risk management, control, and governance processes.

5. EXTERNAL AUDIT/THIRD PARTY AUDIT

          The Third party audit or the External audit is the audit from the Certification body. Once the internal audit is done by the organization, the third party auditor ie the auditor from the Certification audits the organization in accordance with the ISO 9001 Quality Standards. Once the audit is over if there is any Non-compliance part, that will be informed to the organization and the certification body, that is called the audit report. Further a reasonable time will be given to comply all the NCs.  

6. CERTIFICATION:

          Once the Certification Body (who issues the ISO 9001 Certification) gets a positive Audit Report from the Third Party Auditor, it will issue a certification which is valid for thre years. Your Organization is now ISO Certified. J   

7. SURVEILLANCE AUDIT:

          Once the ISO Certification is issued, the certification body will have a proper systematic survailance on the organizations. A periodic audit performed by an external auditor to ensure that an organization still meets ISO 9000 requirements. The third party auditor will audit the firm once in a year to check whether the organization follows all the ISO Standards procedural and properly.
